Cites rising labor and material costs.
Chalking it up to increasing oil and labor costs, Nyko announced today that it will raise prices for most of its products. Specifically, new Chinese labor laws have raised production costs almost 40%, in addition to higher shipping rates (due to the price of oil) and a 10-20% increase in raw materials.
“The cost of manufacturing continues to rise while the value of the U.S. dollar grows weaker, forcing us to adapt,” said Herschel Naghi, CEO of NYKO Technologies. “Experience has shown that maintaining quality at a higher price, instead of degrading our product in order to keep costs low, is a strategy that will prevail in the long run.”
No specific price increases were announced, leading us to suspect that gamers can expect to pay more across the board for most Nyko peripherals.
