Ghostbusters

When the news broke that Activision Blizzard is looking to sell off Sierra Entertainment (hopefully putting an end to the shell of its former existence it has grown to become) and won't be publishing a number of titles planned for the brand, Ghostbusters: The Video Game was perhaps the biggest casuality.

Of course, immediate indications were that the game would get published regardless, and now Sony Pictures has backed up that claim according to Variety.  Sony, which of course owns the Ghostbusters IP, told Variety that it is currently evaluating its options with Activision Blilzzard.  Furthermore, it appears that the game will now be released sometime in 2009, as Sony stated that "this has presented [Sony Pictures Consumer Products] with an opportunity to reevaluate the game release marketing strategy to potentially coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original film in '09."

So it appears that the game will get published one way or another, now the question just remains of who will actually do the publishing and whether any versions will be cancelled in the switch.
